Currently showing is Unravelling Thoughts, the new exhibition by Charlie O'Sullivan and friends. Featuring the Glass work of Simone Bremner.
Prolific painter and illustrator Charlie O’Sullivan, who sold 26 artworks in her first ever show, will be taking over the ground floor gallery at Duchy Square to show her vibrant paintings in an exhibition entitled Unravelling Thoughts.
Passionate about art from a very early age, Charlie, used to hold impromptu exhibitions as a child at home using the contents of her pockets, such as rusty screws, buttons, paper and string, as ‘exhibits’.
In recent years she has built up a large following for her vivid and colourful paintings, which she describes as ‘a fusion of overhead conversations, people, sea, landscape and my own thoughts melted together and poured onto canvas’
Charlie took advantage of the low cost work space at Duchy Square to further develop her artistic business, and continues to go from strength to strength.
“It was great to be a part of the artistic community at Duchy Square and have a large space in which to work,” said Charlie.
“I was able to draw on the fantastic surroundings of Dartmoor as inspiration for some of my work and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. It is really great to have the opportunity to go back and exhibit my work.”
A graduate from Bradford School of Arts and Media and a freelance illustrator for both the BBC and Channel 4, her work has become sought after by collectors both here and abroad – and in her first solo show in September 2009, she sold 26 paintings.
Also included in the Exhibition is the glass work of Smone Bremner. Her recent work explores 'transition' and questions the process by which something undergoes a change and passes from one state to another.
